BOLT

Multimodal transportation needs for commuting Atlantans.

BOLT is a novel solution to the commuting needs of those in Midtown Atlanta, enhancing the experience of a multimodal journey. In understanding the existing infrastructure and commuting needs of Atlantans, spatial awareness and interaction emerged as a primary issue. Through journey-mapping and interviews, we found that multimodal travel is a great solution to combat the unfulfilled opportunities in bike infrastructure, but is ultimately unsupported by the mediums of travel available. BOLT accommodates the multimodal experience, taking into account spatial awareness through exploring a new usage of space. BOLT reduces the profile of the bike by enabling the user to stow the bike vertically, relieving the compacted nature bringing a bike for a multimodal journey.

The Humans Behind BOLT

Literally none of this would have been possible or come to light without the team I ended up with. Through a little bit of luck, and a lot of hard work, I am incredibly proud to call all three of these wonderful humans great friends, and even better group mates. Signing up for Kevin Shankwiler’s Product Development Studio II (The Bike Studio) is like entering into a sixteen week-long marriage, where in every emotion is felt at every time of the day. Doing it with the right group is paramount to the success of your project, and your sanity. I am so proud of what we made, and moreso that I made it with these people.

I do not blame you if you stop viewing here. From here, the documentation of this project is entirely for personal memory, because I am so proud.

It’s not design if we’re not documenting all of it at every given oppourtunity

^^ those were the official group process pictures, from Rachel’s camera. the rest, down there 👇 is not official. at all. showing process from when “stand” as a concept had been picked and we were figuring out its feasibility.
